A CHARITY set up by an award-winning gardener from Semley has received a boost after winning a place on the Vodafone World of Difference programme.
Dorinda Wolfe Murray, who launched the FirstLight Trust in December with Gill Taylor, is one of 500 people across the UK who has been selected to work at her charity of choice for two months, or part-time for four months, and be paid by The Vodafone Foundation.
The FirstLight Trust offers help and support to former military and service personnel, targeting those battling issues such as homelessness, debt and mental health problems.
Ms Wolfe Murray said: ‘The World of Difference programme means that I can really concentrate on raising awareness of the work that FirstLight Trust does and start to get some funds flowing.
“It is also wonderful that the programme really ‘gets’ what we are doing, and believes in the difference we are making to veterans on the streets’.
This is the fourth year that the Vodafone Foundation has delivered a UK World of Difference programme. For more details visit vodafone.co.uk/worldofdifference.
