Tourism week in Salisbury

ENGLISH Tourism Week is coming up, and there will be a variety of events held to showcase Salisbury.

Salisbury Tourist Information Centre, the blue badge guides and the Salisbury & South Wilts Museum are presenting a package of walks and visits between March 16 and 24 to show off the best of the city.

The events include a behind the scenes tour at Salisbury Museum, Secret Salisbury – Poverty, Passion, Murder and St Martin’s Church, Romance and Intrigue in the shadow of the Cathedral Spire, Fisherton - a Search for Secret Salisbury, and the Classic Ghost Walk and City Walk.

Phil Walker, tourist information assistant at Salisbury City Council, said: “The guided walks offer a great opportunity to find out the fascinating facts behind some of the lesser known aspects of Salisbury and the museum tour is deservedly popular, so book in advance.”

Tickets for the walks are £5 for adults, £2.50 for students and free for accompanied children (discounts apply when booking more than one walk).

Stories of food poverty are vile rumours put about by people who haven't got enough to eat.
