AUTHOR Mavis Cheek is visiting Salisbury next month to give a talk on her writing career and novels.

Cheek, who has written 15 novels since 1988, will be at Chafyn Grove School on April 22. Originally from London, she moved to Aldbourne in Wiltshire ten years ago and became involved in the Marlborough Literature Festival. Her interest in creative writing has also led her to run workshops at Erlestoke Prison.

The event, which will also see Cheek answering questions and signing books, is being organised by Salisbury Book Groups.

Organiser Jo Little said: “We are pleased to welcome Mavis to Salisbury. I heard her speak at the Salisbury Arts Festival some years ago, so I know we are in for an interesting evening. I love her books, a mixture of the serious and the wonderfully wicked. You can’t put them down.”

An evening with Mavis Cheek starts at 6.30pm. Full details and a booking form for tickets are available from Cross Keys Bookshop and Salisbury Library.
