ZARA Phillips and actor Tom Ward will be among those to take part in the opening match for the annual Rundle Cup Polo Day at Tidworth on Saturday.

The players will take part in the charity match along with other jockeys and celebrities.

The Rundle Cup match is a hotly contested polo competition played every year in the grounds of Tedworth House, Tidworth, between players from the British Army and Royal Navy.

The day will start at noon with a fun Event Riders v. Jockeys and Celebrities polo match, on both ponies and bicycles, in aid of The INSPIRE Foundation, the Salisbury-based charity which fights the effects of spinal cord injury by researching the latest medical and mechanical technology.

This will be followed by a wheelchair race and a two-furlong dash horse race. The main event will be the Rundle Cup polo match at 4.30pm.

Adding to the day’s entertainment will be a Pony Club Polo exhibition match, a free-fall parachute display from the Royal Navy and the Army’s Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Parachute Teams, and music from HM Royal Marines HMS Collingwood.

Founded in 1907 and set in the grounds of Tedworth Park, Tidworth is one of the oldest polo clubs in the country.
