1300 new homes planned for Amesbury
PLANS for the first phase of a 1,300-home development in Amesbury are soon to be submitted.
The Bloor Homes development, called King’s Gate, is to be built close to Archers Gate and already has outline planning permission.
Once complete it will consist of 1,300 homes, a country park, ten play areas, a skateboard park, a 60- bed care home and a primary school.
The first phase is for 163 homes and will see around £80,000 funding released under a section 106 agreement for a new skatepark.
Amesbury town councillor Roger Fisher said: “I suspect the houses will be of a similar design to Archers Gate.
“We have spent a lot of time with the developers and they have been very responsive to our requests.
“Forty per cent of the development will be affordable homes and we will be getting section 106 money but I don’t think the amount has been finalised yet.”
The overall development is to be completed in five phases. Among the play areas will be two large playgrounds, three small ones and three very small ones, designed for toddlers.
Archers Gate, which is a development of 550 homes, is now almost complete.
