Sleep out hailed a success
A MASS sleep out in Salisbury to protest against the Government’s bedroom tax has been hailed a great success.
The event, last Saturday, was one of many demonstrations held across the country, and 57 balloons were released at The Maltings in Salisbury in the morning to represent all the towns and cities taking part.
About 4,000 leaflets were handed out, highlighting the impact of the tax on people living in council or housing association properties.
More than £200 of food was also donated to be given to homeless people.
Organiser Jessica McCarnun said: “It was an amazing event and I think we changed quite a few attitudes and opened many eyes.”
