People reassured over photographs taken in city centre
WORRIED parents contacted police in Salisbury on Thursday after a group of men were spotted taking photographs of people, including children, in Salisbury city centre.
But Inspector Christian Lange said there was “no sinister element” to the actions of the men, who were visiting soldiers.
He said: “The matter was swiftly investigated and we can confirm that the men were a large group of visiting soldiers who had been on exercise in Wiltshire.
“They were spoken to by officers and advised that their actions could cause concern or offence.
"There was no sinister element to the actions of these men, however we are liaising with the Ministry of Defence to ensure that in future any visiting military personnel are advised regarding appropriate behaviour.
“We would like to thank those who contacted police regarding these incidents as it is important that the community reports any behaviour they feel is suspicious or concerning so we can deal with it quickly.”
