Campsite lighting plan to be considered by councillors
A COUNTRYSIDE campsite that has been opposed by its neighbours throughout the planning process will go before council planners again on Thursday.
Permission for Stonehenge Campsite near Berwick St James was granted by an inspector at appeal but with conditions attached including the submission for a lighting scheme to be agreed by Wiltshire Council.
But the site owner William Grant has now applied for this condition to be removed and for a revised lighting scheme to be implemented.
A planning officer’s report to the committee recommends refusal of the application on the grounds the suggested scheme would have an adverse impact on the character of the area.
The council has also received objections from eight members of the public.
The application will go before Wiltshire Council’s southern area planning committee at a meeting to be held at Salisbury City Hall at 6pm.
