£230,000 investment for Victoria Park
A PARK in Salisbury is set to get a £230,000 upgrade and people living nearby are being asked what they want to see done to it.
Salisbury City Council is currently undertaking a review of Victoria Park, with work set to start in spring 2014 and has launched a questionnaire to gauge people’s opinions.
The council’s park’s manager Chris Stringer said: “This is a great opportunity to improve Victoria Park. We’re going to be talking to lots of different groups and organisations to find out what they’d like us to spend this money on.
“As well as this, we want to hear from everyone who uses the park - and from people who don’t use the park to find out why that is,” he added. “We are trying to gather people’s opinions, plus their ambitions and ideas for the future. That way we can make sure we invest this money in the right way and in the right places.”
The local councillors for the area are also encouraging people to have their say on what the money should be spent on.
City Councillor Atiqul Hoque said: “It is a large amount of money and we want to know how people want us to spend it. “It is their park in their area and it is their decision.”
