Bloom awards for Salisbury
PARKS, floral displays and the natural environment have won Salisbury two Silver Gilt Awards in the South & South East in Bloom competition.
The city centre’s floral displays and general look and feel was judged on horticultural achievement, the natural environment, civic pride and community participation.
Salisbury City Council’s parks manager Chris Stringer said: “This award reflects and celebrates the efforts of lots of people and organisations - from the businesses that sponsor or arrange displays to the schools, residents & voluntary groups that get involved in Salisbury in Bloom.
“This award is a thank you to everyone who does their bit for the city.”
The newly revamped Queen Elizabeth Gardens was recognised with its own Silver Gilt Award in the Park of the Year Awards.
City clerk Reg Williams said: “This is a fantastic achievement for all involved in the Queen Elizabeth Gardens Project. The new look park will be enjoyed by future generations and as the planting matures, the park will undoubtedly continue to impress.”
