Fashion Week celebrates style through the decades
AS the final preparations for Salisbury Fashion Week take place, a new event celebrating styles through the decades has been added to the celebration of local fashion.
Hosted by the newly refurbished Pembroke Arms Hotel in Wilton, the Fashion Through The Decades event will take guests on a journey from the glamour of the Roaring Twenties through to the present day.
Live singers and dancers from Elevate Dance Studio will help to set the scene with a range of performances influenced by the different eras.
Dr Ben Wild, fashion historian and guest lecturer at the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design, opened in London earlier this year, will guide the guests through the history of fashion.
“However avant-garde new clothing concepts appear, they are always informed by the past,” he said.
“Designers have long made use of history to mould and market their creations, just as their customers use the past to create looks that seem unique.
“To understand and appreciate fashion’s present and future, it is necessary to have knowledge of its past. For this unique fashion event, I shall be pointing out some of the notable styles and the contemporary events that inspired them between 1920 and 2013.”
Fashion Through the Decades take place on Friday, September 27 at 7pm.
The event is limited to 50 tickets priced at £17 which includes a welcome drink and canapés.
The launch event of Salisbury Fashion Week takes place at the City Hall on Thursday, September 26.
Tickets to both are available at salisburyfashionweek.co.uk.
