Council gets back more Icelandic bank cash
WILTSHIRE Council has received more than £1.6m in repayments over recent weeks following the recovery of money lost during the Icelandic Bank collapse five years ago.
A sum of £1.51m from Heritable bank, followed by £156,000 from Landsbanki means the council has recouped almost £10.2m from its original investment of £12m in 2008.
Dick Tonge, cabinet member for finance, said: “We welcome the latest Icelandic Bank repayments and we will continue to keep a close eye on the winding up proceedings and update the public when we have more news.”
