Vandals target 'wrong' house
POLICE are appealing for information after two Ludgershall houses were damaged by vandals in a case of suspected mistaken identity.
Damage was caused to the front of two properties in Berryfield Court at about 3.45am on Sunday.
One house, occupied by a 29- year-old woman and her baby son, had its kitchen window smashed and front door damaged, and another, occupied by a 92-year-old woman, had all four panes of a double-glazed sash window smashed.
The suspects are described as two men, one of whom was wearing a light coloured hoody and wielding a weapon such as a baseball bat, iron bar or golf club.
After the incident they quickly made off in a dark vehicle with a diesel engine towards Butts Lane.
Investigating officer PC Graham Briant said: “Through no fault of their own two members of Ludgershall's close-knit village community have been left shaken and financially punished.
“They have absolutely no idea why anybody would want to do this to their homes in the middle of the night and their only comfort at the moment is the hope that it was a case of mistaken identity.”
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Briant on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
