Salisbury plans first Big Community Day
VOLUNTARY and community groups can get advice and support with Salisbury’s first Big Community Day.
The event, organised by Salisbury City Council and Wessex Community Action, will provide an opportunity for the voluntary and community sector to identify ways of possible partnership working with other organisations, get advice and support and network with similar groups.
It will be held at The Guildhall on October 16 from 10am to 4.30pm and costs £5 to attend, which includes a lunch.
There will be a number of workshops on useful topics like how to find and retain volunteers, effective consultation and roles and responsibilities of trustees.
Annie Scadden, community development manager at the city council, said: “This is a great opportunity to network and meet new organisations and gain new knowledge and ideas all under one roof.”
Rector of Bemerton Simon Woodley is the keynote speaker and will share his thoughts on how working in partnership can benefit the city as well as the organisations involved.
There is also a sponsored drinks reception, followed by Wessex Community Action’s AGM.
