Rock Choir holds travelling raffle for Lucy's Days Out
MEMBERS of a rock choir held a travelling raffle to raise money for a local charity.
Salisbury Rock Choir went to London’s O2 Arena in July to take part in a concert, and on the coach trip they held a raffle to raise money for Lucy’s Days Out, a charity that provides trips for sick children and their families.
On Thursday night they invited charity founder Julie Page along with Maria Horsfall from the charity to their rehearsal to present them with the £100 they raised. They sang some songs for them and asked Mrs Page to speak about the work the charity – started in memory of her 12-year-old daughter Lucy – does for children and their families.
Hannah Perry from the choir, who organised the raffle with her colleague Pat Clark, said: “We have two specific charities we support but we do a lot for local charities too and we wanted to give something back, like Lucy had. If it gives one child something we will feel pretty good about it.”
