Early Christmas fair in Cloisters
THE Cloisters of Salisbury Cathedral is to host a travelling market.
The early Christmas Fair is a new venture that has been organised by the Friends of Salisbury Cathedral School and will be in full swing between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, November 9.
It will feature the colourful and creative traders of the Anonymous Travelling Market, who aim to put the fun back into the shopping experience.
In addition, children’s author and illustrator Ilona Rodgers – well known for her collection of stories about Musgrove, the Nanny of Notting Hill – will be reading her stories, signing books and making individual vignettes for younger visitors between 1pm and 3pm.
The Cathedral School will also be running a handful of stalls offering homemade cakes, good quality gift wrap, handmade greetings cards and children’s crafts as well as mulled wine and mince pies.
“This is a new initiative for the Friends and promises to be a unique and enjoyable event for adults and children alike, especially as it is set in the stunning surroundings of Salisbury Cathedral Cloisters,” said Friends chairman Kathy Davies.
The fair, which is open to everyone, is run by and for the Friends of Salisbury Cathedral School to raise money for extras for the school. Children go free but there is a £2 entry fee for adults.
