Thieves steal keys from houses and take cars
POLICE in Salisbury are reminding people to ensure their homes are secure at night after two incidents in which thieves walked into people’s homes and took their car keys before using them to take their cars.
Burglars went into a property in Stanley Little Road, Bemerton Heath and stole the key for a Peugeot 307 overnight on September 27.
The car was later found in Bournemouth.
The second incident took place overnight on October 2, when the key for a Nissan Almera was stolen from a property in Glyndebourne Close. The vehicle was later found on a track by the Whiting Works in Salisbury with extensive damage.
In a third burglary in the early hours of Sunday morning, when four youths were seen to open the window of another property in Glyndebourne Close, reach in and steal a wallet.
PC Trevor Morgan of Salisbury Police said: “I would like to remind everybody of the importance of locking up their houses and flats especially at night. Thefts such as these are preventable by taking simple measures. It is also important that residents report any suspicious activity to help us identify these offenders.”
