Cemetery plan given permission at appeal
A PLANNING inspector has overturned Wiltshire Council’s decision to refuse permission for a cemetery on the outskirts of Salisbury, meaning the developer now has permission for two different sites.
Persimmon Homes applied for permission on a 2.1-acre site on land next to a 1,250-home development at Fugglestone Red.
But the council’s southern area planning committee turned down the application in February, although permission was granted for the new homes.
The developer lodged an appeal and also submitted a new application on a different area of land nearby.
Planning inspector John Wilde heard the appeal and has overturned the refusal, saying that he had to consider the application before him “on its own merits and not in comparison with this other permitted cemetery”.
