Golden days for happy couple
THERE was a fairground attraction for golden couple Elsie and Robert Giddings who celebrated 50 happy years together this week.
The couple met at Frampton-on-Severn fair in 1960 while they were both working at RAF Quedgeley in Gloucestershire.
Mr Giddings was a MoD police sergeant and Mrs Giddings worked as a clerical officer. They married at Gloucester Register Office and had two children, Geoffrey and Veronica.
In 1971 they moved to Salisbury when Mr Giddings was stationed at Larkhill.
The couple enjoy spending time with their family and are very involved with the Royal British Legion.
Mr Giddings has been a standard bearer for the last 30 years and the couple also sell Remembrance Day poppies.
They are active members of the Retired Civil Service Association and the Rifles Regiment Association.
The couple, who live in Laverstock, celebrated their golden wedding on Saturday.
