Funeral director's raises money for community horse at RDA
A FUNERAL director in Wilton has launched a campaign to support a community horse at a charity in the town.
Chris White funeral directors, is calling on 400 local residents and businesses to give just £1 each to help raise enough to sponsor a horse for a year at Wilton Group Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
The team hopes the initiative will fund the livery of March, an Exmoor pony at the riding centre.
Those who donate will be asked to put their details onto one of 400 vinyl hands, which will be added to a six-foot cardboard cut-out displayed in the window of Chris White’s Wilton branch.
Becky Perry, a funeral director at Chris White says the ongoing campaign is a great way for the local community to unite and take ownership of something worthwhile.
“At the end of the campaign, Wilton will have its own community horse, which is something that not many other places can claim,’’ she said.
The Wilton Group RDA is one of the largest disabled riding centres in the country and is run by 200 local volunteers.
With dedicated horses helping disabled riders from Wilton and the surrounding areas each week, the charity does not charge for its services and is funded entirely on donations.
To take part, visit the Chris White branch in South Street.
