A TEENAGER from Salisbury has been named as one of St John Ambulance’s Cadets of the Year (COTY) for 2014.
Jade Cobb, 16, is a volunteer at the first aid charity’s unit in the city and goes to Wiltshire College Salisbury.
She was chosen from among the best young first aiders at a regional heat, as the representative for the east district, which covers south Wiltshire, Dorset and parts of Somerset.
“It feels amazing being the Cadet of the Year for my district,” said Jade, who has been a cadet for more than five years.
“I appreciate this so much, having this opportunity to do this and achieve such a big thing in St John Ambulance.”
The regional round of the Cadet of the Year event, last month, saw cadets being interviewed, delivering presentations and working together in team tasks, as well as having their first aid skills assessed.
Each cadet chosen will take up their post in January and attend the national COTY event in April, where the national and regional winners will be decided.
