Opportunity for young choreographers

YOUNG choreographers from the South West are needed to take part in a development scheme.

Youth Dance England’s Young Creatives has been going since 2008 and aims to enhance young people’s skills and knowledge of choreography while giving them the opportunity to present their own work.

Supported artist at The Point in Eastleigh Zoie Golding, Founder of FuzzyLogic and ZoieLogic Dance Company has been selected to lead the 2014 project for the south west.

Young people aged 14 to 18 from the region can apply to become part of the scheme, to be run at Eastleith and another venue to be confirmed.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to learn about and develop their own choreography with experts, furthering knowledge of what is takes to create exciting new works and challenge your current understanding of dance.

Golding will work with the youngsters over six months, helping them to create new pieces of work.

The chosen young choreographers from all the regions taking part will then come together at The Royal Ballet School in London, next Easter where they will be part of a residential programme.

They will then go on to share their work on the stage of the Clore Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House and as part of The Point’s youth platform HotHouse in June.
