A HORSE died after being hit by a car in Tidworth on Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to the junction of the A338 and Humber Lane, near Tedworth House, at 1.16pm. A rider was thrown from the horse before the animal was then hit by a Toyota Prius.
The road was closed as the horse was distressed and it was put to sleep by a vet just after 2pm. The rider was taken to Salisbury District Hospital complaining of back pain. The road reopened just after 2.30pm.
