A KNIFEPOINT robbery left staff at a Salisbury store shaken this morning.

A man with a knife threatened a shop worker at Halfords in Dairy Meadow Lane, off Southampton Road, just before 6.45am, and made off with a large amount of cash. The man was wearing a full face motorbike helmet, a green combat jacket and dark trousers.

He is described as being about 5ft 8ins tall and well built. He is believed to have emerged from the back of Halfords just after 7am carrying a grey rucksack with a yellow Animal logo and a green five litre petrol can that he had taken from the store. The staff member was not harmed in the incident but was left very shaken.

DS Nigel Porter said: “This was a frightening incident for the staff member and we have a team of officers currently working on the case to identify this offender.

“I would like to appeal specifically to early morning workers in the area of Halfords and the surrounding business/retail centres to contact police if they saw a man matching the description.”

Police would also like to speak to anyone who was travelling along the A36 Southampton Road at about 6.45am to 7am.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Porter at the Salisbury Priority Crime Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
