SOLDIERS from the Army Air Corps dug in to spruce up a Salisbury school’s grounds.

A group of nine personnel from 676 Sqn Army Air Corps, one of the sub units of 2(Trg) Regt AAC based at Middle Wallop, helped improve the gardens at Manor Fields Primary School in Wilton Road.

They cleared overgrown areas, removed rubbish and helped with bird boxes. Their hard work was rewarded by a school dinner with headteacher Jo McMorrin and some of the children. Ms McMorrin said: “We were very fortunate to work alongside the army on the upkeep of our grounds. It was great for the children to learn about the world of work. They were fascinated.”

The army airmen’s contribution was part of their efforts to work with the community. They are currently in the middle of their trade training and were looking forward to some well earned Christmas leave before moving onto the next module of training.
