A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of robbery following a knifepoint attack at Halfords on Friday.

A shop worker was threatened by a man with a knife at the store in Dairy Meadow Lane, off Southampton Road, just before 6.45am.

The man, who was wearing a full face motorbike helmet, a green combat jacket and dark trousers, then made off with a large amount of cash.

He is described as being about 5ft 8ins tall and well built, and he is believed to have emerged from the back of Halfords just after 7am carrying a grey rucksack with a yellow Animal logo and a green five-litre petrol can that he had taken from the store.

The staff member was not harmed in the incident but was left very shaken.

A 26-year-old from Chichester was taken into custody at Salisbury Police Station and later released on police bail pending further inquiries. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
