SHOPPERS in Wiltshire have helped provide some joy to disadvantaged children.
People have been donating to Barnardo’s through the Argos Toy Exchange.
Nationwide, more than £560,000 unwanted toys were donated and will be sold in Barnardo’s shops, including Catherine Street in Salisbury and Bence Court in Amesbury to help fund the work the charity does with vulnerable young people.
Gerard Cousins, Barnardo’s director of retail and trading, said: “This is the second year of the partnership and we are delighted that the Argos Toy Exchange has again proved to be such a success, particularly in such a challenging climate.
“Christmas is one of our busiest times, so it was a real festive bonus to receive this substantial boost to our stock.
“Donations are absolutely essential to keep our stores trading. All profits from selling these toys are plough directly into our work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children.”
The Toy Exchange encouraged Argos customers to donate their pre-loved toys at stores across the UK, to be sold through Barnardo’s local networks of shops.
Donors were rewarded with a voucher offering £5 off a £35 spend on toys at Argos, with vouchers valid up to Christmas Eve.
