PARTS of Salisbury’s Cathedral Close are at risk of flooding following heavy rain over the weekend.
Flood alerts have been stepped up to flood warnings by the Environment Agency in many parts of south Wiltshire. Warnings are in place for Salisbury Cathedral Close, Leaden Hall School, St Nicholas Road, De Vaux Place, The Friary, Greyfriars Close, Eyres Way, Cathedral Court, Carmelite Way and Wiltshire College Salisbury.
And staff at Salisbury Museum are putting sandbags in place and moving exhibits away from the most vulnerable areas.
There are also flood warnings in place for Codford St Peter, Wylye and Great Wishford; Britford and Green Lane, The Borough, Gravel Close, Long Close and High Street in Downton; Upavon, Netheravon, Durrington and Bulford; and Great Durnford and the Woodford Valley.
The A354 in Coombe Bissett is also completed flooded due to the river bursting its bank and the road is currently closed.
Flood alerts remain in place for the River Ebble and tributaries from Alvediston to Nunton; the River Avon and tributaries between Upavon and Salisbury, and Ringwood and Salisbury; and the River Wylye and tributaries between Norton Ferris and Wilton.
Groundwater flooding alerts have also been issued for the Cranborne Chase area, including Bishopstone, Breamore, Britford, Broad Chalke, Burgate, Chilmark, Fordingbridge, Mere, and Sixpenny Handley.
