THE parents of a young boy who died suddenly from epilepsy are running a half marathon in his memory.

Barrie and Jan Burns have organised a number of fundraising events in memory of their 10-year-old son Charlie, who died from SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy) in October 2011, to raise awareness and funds for SUDEP Action.

Together with Charlie’s sister Izzie, the couple have previously taken part in a 10k run and skydive for charity, with friends and family all doing their bit to help them raise almost £28,000 so far.

On March 2 they will be taking on their next challenge, running the Silverstone Half Marathon, which takes place at the iconic motor racing circuit.

The race and the venue will be emotional for the family. Charlie’s hero was Lewis Hamilton and he was able to see him at the British Grand Prix in 2010.
