THE first Get Wiltshire Walking starter walk in Amesbury was a success on Tuesday despite heavy rainfall and high winds.
Wiltshire Council's Big Lottery funded project saw the first of its new starter walks take place, with 17 walkers in attendance.
The starter walks, which last for 30 minutes, are intended to encourage those doing little or no physical activity or anyone recovering from medical issues, to gradually become more active.
As their stamina increases, there is a second group which walks for more than an hour over more variable terrain.
