Drivers warned to avoid roundabout

First published in News by

DRIVERS are being advised to avoid the Harnham Gyratory until 11.30am this morning as trees are cut down.

Wiltshire Council say at the roundabout from the south there are two trees “in imminent danger of falling” after the weekend's storms and they are closing the road while they remove them.

People are advised to avoid the area until the road is reopened.

I would love to know where the authorities made it known that the Harnham Roundabout should be avoided.

I was on a volunteer hospital run and checked the BBC Travel site before leaving Mere 25 miles away for closed roads. NOTHING !. By the time I had dropped my patient at New Hall and gone back towards Salisbury, the roads were gridlocked !

I managed to go back past Odstock and spent two and a half hours waiting in the Hospital for my clients rather than shopping in Salisbury. The traffic queue was back past New Hall towards Downton in less than an hour.

What a shambles. I cetainly hope the rivers don't rise anymore. . . . . . .
