A CITY eyesore could be given a new lease of life if plans to build four new houses are approved.

The Devizes Road house has been vacant for a number of years and applicant Wessex Water Services Limited wants to demolish it and build a terrace of four two-bedroom houses with a new access and parking area.

The house is next to a water treatment works and a covered reservoir and was once occupied by on-site staff, but the treatment works is now unmanned.

Salisbury City Council’s planning and transportation committee voted to support the planning application at a meeting held on Monday.

A consultation period ends on March 18 and a decision on the plans is expected to be made by Wiltshire Council by early April.
