No summer spectacular this year

SALISBURY City Council will not be holding its Summer Spectacular event this year as it can’t afford it.

Wiltshire Council offered the city council the opportunity to nominate four dates in the coming financial year on which it wants free use of the park and ride sites. The council’s policy and resources committee decided on Monday what days they would like and selected four Saturdays in the run-up to Christmas.

Last year the council held its first Summer Spectacular event, following the success of the Diamond Jubilee event. But deputy city clerk Annie Child confirmed in future it will take place every other year.
