PLANS are underway for a spectacular charity event at Old Sarum Airfield in the summer.
The Red Alert! Support Our Paras event will return to the airfield on May 11 to raise funds for the Parachute Regiment Charity.
The airfield held a similar event in 2008, which raised more than £125,000, and organisers want this year’s event to be even bigger as they mark the 70th anniversary of the parachute regiment’s involvement in the Second World War at Normandy and Arnhem, as well as the 50th birthday of the regiment free fall display team, The Red Devils.
The event will provide a memorable day out for aviation and military enthusiasts as well as classic car fans.
There will be air displays of Spitfire, Hurricane and Mustang Second World War planes, as well as other veteran and modern aircraft and one of the Red Devils’ world-famous free fall parachuting displays.
Grenville Hodge, director of the airfield, said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring another Support Our Paras event and we really want as many people as possible to support us so we can raise even more than we did in 2008.
“We’ll have a few more surprises on the day so this is an event not to be missed and, just like last time, we expect tickets to sell out fast.”
