A CYCLIST is preparing for a 3,000km challenge to raise money for and awareness of cystic fibrosis in memory of a childhood friend.
Will King, 32, will cover 80 to 100km a day cycling from Vancouver to San Diego in memory of Milly Douglas-Pennant, who died aged 29 while waiting for a double lung transplant.
He said: “This trip is all about two things, raising awareness of the need for donor organs for transplant, as well as raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
"It’s about giving money and the gift of life. Without the trust doing what it does, there is no way that people can achieve great things, their goals and aspirations.
“Milly was quite simply lovely and those of us that knew her miss her greatly. It was through the work undertaken by the CF Trust, as well as great support from her family and her own personal drive, that she was able to live a vibrant and exciting life until she died a few years ago.”
