FREE Sunday car parking will be available at Salisbury’s Culver Street car park from this weekend.
Wiltshire Council has decided to open the car park on Sunday without charge in order to try to encourage shoppers and tourists to use it and to increase Sunday trade.
The car park is also receiving additional maintenance. John Thomson, the council’s Cabinet member for highways, said: “This valuable initiative will attract additional visitors to the city on Sundays and benefit local businesses.
“It will also provide us with useful information for the review currently being carried out into all our car parks. The review will allow us to identify a range of options and proposals which we will then put out for public consultation later this year.”
Culver Street is a long-stay multi-storey car park with 528 spaces accessed from the Salisbury ring road.
