BROWNIES in Salisbury have been putting themselves in the shoes of others to raise money for girls across the world.
Members of 14th Salisbury Brownies, based at St Francis Church, wanted to help youngsters who have to walk miles every day to collect water for their families.
They signed up to the Walk in Her Shoes campaign being run by the charity CARE International. The children took on the task of walking 10,000 steps a day for one or more days during a week and walked more than a million steps between them, raising £540.
Maggie Norman walked 87,000 steps and won the Walk in Her Shoes T-shirt for the most steps. Unit leader Sharon Goldie said: “The Brownies are delighted to think that their efforts will have helped girls across the world to have access to safe, clean drinking water, close to their homes. This will give them time to go to school, helping them to reach their full potential in life.”
