THE Princess Royal paid a visit to Wiltshire and met Salisbury volunteers for Save the Children to thank them for their loyal support.

Among those meeting Princess Anne, who is president of the charity, were Carolyn Cardus and Daphne Ponsford from the Stratford Singers, as well as Helen Russell, manager of the Cathedral shop, and Beverley Turner, both of whom have taken part for many years in Wessex Walks for Save the Children as members of Salisbury Methodist Church.

She also chatted with Su Lycett of Salisbury, who is volunteer walks administrator, and with 87-year-old Ian Gibson of Cranborne who has taken part for more than 30 years.

This year’s Wessex Walks take place on Sunday, May 11.
