FAMILY and friends of teenager Rory Walworth braved rain and mist for a fundraising coastal walk in his memory.
After breakfasting on bacon rolls, tea and sloe gin, 56 walkers and supporters, plus assorted dogs, set off from Corfe Castle.
Their route took them along the Purbeck Way to Swanage before turning inland to Worth Matravers where they were rewarded with a meal of chilli.
The final leg was via Chapman’s Pool to Kingston.
“Nineteen miles up and down hill in the rain is not for the faint-hearted,” said walker Lucy Hall, “but camaraderie and kind volunteers providing food and drink at regular intervals certainly helped.
“Rory’s family were so pleased that so many people joined them, making it such a memorable day.”
Rory, from Downton, died in a cycling accident in 2009 and since then his family have held regular events which benefit the charity Wheels 4 Life.
