A POPULAR discount homeware store is coming to Salisbury.

HomeSense, which is part of the TK Maxx stable, will take over the old Comet electrical shop in Churchill Way.

The chain, which first opened in Poole in 2008, has 27 stores nationwide and big expansion plans.

It boasts that it sells furniture, kitchenware, bathroom accessories, bedding, tableware, glass and ceramics, garden furniture and tools at savings of up to 60 per cent.

It will create 35 jobs in the city.

A new mezzanine floor will be installed in the shop, which has been vacant since December 2012.

A planning application approved by Wiltshire Council last week claims there will be a “minimal impact” on trade in the city centre.
