HOSPITAL staff will be offering end of life advice at a special event at the Guildhall in Salisbury next Tuesday.

The event coincides with Dying Matters Awareness Week, which encourages people to take five simple steps to plan for the future, such as writing a will, recording funeral wishes, planning future care and support, considering registering as an organ donor and telling loved ones their wishes.

Staff from Salisbury District Hospital and Salisbury Hospice will be providing information and there will be advice from external bodies.

Sarah Hennell, senior nurse manager in palliative care, said: “Planning for the end of your life or that of a loved one is a sensitive area and one which some people can find very difficult.

“However, it’s so important that people plan carefully and are aware of the support and advice that is available to them. Broaching these issues early can help alleviate some of the stress and anxiety that can be a feature at the end of a life and improve the experience for all those involved.”

The event takes place between 10am and 2.30pm on Tuesday, May 13.
