THE Stars Appeal has received a £19,471 boost thanks to the outgoing Mayor of Salisbury, Penny Brown.

Cllr Brown chose to support the hospital charity as it launched its CT Scanner Campaign in spring 2013.

She organised a host of events including a lavish charity ball at Larkhill, a quiz and coffee mornings.

The money raised at Salisbury carnival last autumn was also added to her total.

On Thursday Cllr Brown presented a cheque to patron of the Stars Appeal Lord Pembroke and Lady Radnor who is a keen supporter of the charity.

The reception was also attended by hospital staff involved with the successful CT Scanner Appeal which raised £650,000 in just eight months.
