CHILDREN took part in an obstacle race at Mere School to help fund a trip to Carymoor environmental centre in Castle Cary.
Parents Lisa Gray and Lynee Dimmock organised the sponsored event for reception class, raising £525.
The event was held in the school hall and activities including children riding a scooter, climbing through hoops, dribbling around cones with a bat and ball, walking on a balance beam and crawling through a tunnel.
Pupil Elanor Littlewood said: “We raised money for the bus and our trip. I liked it because my whole family came to watch me.”
And class teacher Catherine Bevan added: “There are only 21 children in reception class, so to raise that much money was fantastic. The trip to Carymoor environmental centre was a huge success and what’s even better is that there is money left over, so we will be able to buy more treats for the children.”
