Toddler bitten by dog

A TODDLER was bitten by a dog while playing outside in Salisbury.

The incident happened near Cowslip Farm, off Devizes Road, on Sunday, May 18 when the two-year-old boy was out with his family.

Three people with five dogs, all off their leads, arrived in the area and a Jack Russell bit the child on the leg, causing a small puncture wound.

The dog’s owners then left the scene without offering any assistance.

The child was taken to hospital for a check-up but was not badly hurt.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at about 6.45pm.

The people involved were two men and a woman all in their 40s or 50s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Best wishes to the toddler and the parents. What a horrible and unnecessary experience. Dogs should be on leads at all times outside their homes, and in this case perhaps the owners too.
