THERE were some magnificent motors to be seen on Choristers' Green in The Close last Thursday, when the Dorset Austin Seven Club made their annual rally to Salisbury.
Ten cars dating from between 1926 and 1938 parked up beside the Green, while the drivers and crews visited the cathedral and climbed the tower.
The trip for club members and their 'boxes' - as the cars are known - was arranged by David Whetton from Alderbury and the club's president, Bernard Cowley.
One of the more intrepid open top cars, owned by Joy and George Mooney, has been across the USA on Route 66 and even over the Andes and back on previous world trips.
Tourists and local people flocked to photograph the historic cars before they departed in clouds of old fashioned smoke.
