A GIFT Day organised by the Friends of Wardour Primary School raised £6,900 to upgrade computer facilities for pupils.

Parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and anyone connected to the school, were invited to a tea party and pupils’ art exhibition and asked to contribute whatever they could afford. With a target of £8,000, this one event raised almost the full sum needed and means that the school can begin to replace its out-dated computers with new, state of the art equipment.

Headteacher Caroline Lander said: “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the parents, their extended families and the wider school community who have come together to raise this phenomenal amount in just one day. “This contribution will enable us to give the children the computer equipment they deserve and I am incredibly grateful for this amazing kick-start to our fundraising”.

The school also held an exhibition of pupils’ artwork in the school hall – with works in homage to Matisse and Van Gogh, and religious iconography inspired by Ethiopian art as well as Kple Kple style African masks.
