FOUR huge panels will be installed in Salisbury’s Market Place as part of a heritage trail around the city.
Wiltshire Council has commissioned Salisbury Arts Centre to oversee the creation of the panels, which will feature large-scale public art.
Each of the panels will focus on a particular aspect of Salisbury’s heritage and will be made of metal with other materials, including glass in homage to the windows of Salisbury Cathedral. The metalwork will be produced by Andy Rawlings of The Forge, Amesbury, working up designs created by local artist Alice Harwood.
The panels will also show other ways to explore local heritage topics.
Community workshops will be held to gather information on Salisbury’s heritage, and give people the chance to contribute creatively to the panels themselves through public welding sessions and other workshops.
The first workshop will be held on Friday, July 11 from 10am to 3pm in the Market Square.
