GIRLS from Leaden Hall School stepped back in time when they spent the day at Longford Castle on Thursday.

Dressed as Victorians, the Year 1 pupils learned about the life of a housemaid including making pastry for jam tarts, polishing brass and setting the fireplace.

They also helped the gardener dig up dinner from the vegetable patch and collected eggs from the hen house before preparing the evening meal.

The girls agreed that being a housemaid was hard work but they had a lovely time learning all about it
