A NEW steam gala will be held next month – and there’s free entry.

The Sarum Steam and Classic Transport Gala will be held at Salisbury Rugby Club in Castle Road from 10.30am to 4pm on August 2 and 3.

Mayor Jo Brown will open the event, which aims to provide a fun day out for all the family, with rides, arts and crafts stalls, country market stalls, trade stands, charity stalls, exhibitions of static steam-driven vehicles, classic cars, motorbikes and commercials alongside a model railway exhibit in the club house.

There will also be demonstrations of model engineering workmanship aimed at encouraging the younger generation to take up engineering and vehicle restoration.

There will be a free park and ride shuttle bus from The Beehive on the Sunday.

Funding has been provided by Salisbury City Council and the event will raise funds for charity.

If you want to hold a stall contact Ted Taylor at infor@salisburyrfc.org or 01722 325317.
