THE development of a community hub around the schools in Somerset Road, Salisbury, has taken another step forward.

Almost £5,000 has been granted to Wyndham Park Infant School to kit out a hub office which will offer free temporary desk space to organisations and agencies that offer advice and support in the area.

These will include the neighbourhood policing team, who will have a drop-in centre there, as well as churches and charities that will focus on helping older and more vulnerable residents.

Other potential users include social workers, educational psychologists and therapists and the school nurse.

There is even potential for the hub being used as a meeting venue for MP John Glen and councillors.

A café on the hub site is already a big hit with pupils and parents.

The grant by Wiltshire Council’s Salisbury area board will cover half the cost of the work.
